JOB POSITIONS AVAILABLE
Posting #1:  Day Camp Director 
THIS POSITION SHOULD BE OF INTEREST TO ANY STUDENT WITH PADDLING EXPERIENCE, LIVING OR COTTAGING IN THE MUSKOKA AREA
Full Time: July 1 to August 23, 2019. Additional administrative hours may also be available in May and June.

Job Summary: Reporting to the Vice-Commodore, the Camp Director will supervise Day Camp counselors, manage program planning and delivery, teach canoe and kayak paddle skills to youth age 7 – 14,  teach water safety, operate an arts & craft program, lead environmental hikes, maintain inventory control of club equipment and provide feedback to parents.

Experience required: Graduate of or be willing to take the one-day Canoe Kids Day Camp counselor course. Current CPR First Aid, proof of swimming and paddling skills, previous day camp counselor experience, demonstrated leadership and communication skills. Vulnerable sector criminal record check.

Additional Preferred Experience: NCCP Level 1 coaching certification with Canoe Kayak Stream. Pleasure Craft  Operator Card, Bronze Cross or Swim Instructor Certification.

Job Posting #2:  Day Camp Counselor (full-time position; 8 hrs/day)

THIS POSITION SHOULD BE OF INTEREST TO ANY STUDENT WITH PADDLING EXPERIENCE, LIVING OR COTTAGING IN THE MUSKOKA AREA
Full Time: July 2 to August 23, 2019, Additional administrative hours may be available in May and June.

Job Summary: Reporting to the Camp Director and Vice-Commodore, supervise a group of youth age 7 -14. Teach the youth canoe and kayak paddling skills, safe water skills, arts & craft skills, lead environmental hikes, and how to safely carry and move Club crafts and equipment. Communicate with parents and problem solve conflicts between youth.

Experience required: Graduate of or be willing to take the one-day Canoe Kids Day Camp counselor course. Current CPR First Aid, proof of swimming and paddling skills, previous experience working with youth, demonstrated communication skills. Vulnerable sector criminal record check.

Job Posting #3:  SPRINT CANOE AND KAYAK COACH (evening programming)
The Muskoka Paddle Club (MPC) is accepting applications for the position of a sprint racing coach. Experience in war canoe, north canoe and marathon racing would be an asset.  MPC is located in Kelvin Grove Park in downtown Bracebridge on the main branch of the Muskoka River.

Start date is July 2, 2019 (or earlier) to August 23, 2019. Anticipated hours are expected to be from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm daily, Monday to Friday. Additional hours will be available in May and June to recruit youth at elementary and high schools in Bracebridge. Rate of pay is negotiable based on experience.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Teaching youth safe boat handling
  • On water and on land supervision and sprint racing instruction
  • Be able to demonstrate and teach proper paddle technique
  • Occasionally sign out boats and equipment to members
Requirements:
  • Community Coach Certification
  • NCCP Competitive Coach with Canoe Kayak Stream preferred, or you are prepared to take it this spring (weekend course).
  • ORCKA or other certification would be considered
  • Strong competitive paddling background
  • Ability to work with all ages of paddlers
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Pleasure Craft Operator Card
  • Acceptable criminal background check
  • Minimum age 16 to maximum age 30 for staffing grant purposes. This would be the ideal position for an experienced sprint or marathon paddler who summers or lives in Muskoka
